Attitudinal Healing

What is Attitudinal Healing?

Attitudinal Healing is a widely recognised, award-winning replicable model of psychology that has been used successfully for five decades both locally, and in over sixty countries on six continents. It has provided trainings, workshops and support to hundreds of thousands of adults, adolescents and children facing life-threatening illnesses, conflict, challenges and change, and provides a practical skill set for those seeking more joy and fulfilment in daily life.

At the heart of Attitudinal Healing is the belief in the extraordinary ability of ordinary people to be of help to one another, and the idea that we have the power to choose our attitude in any given moment, regardless of the circumstances.

“It’s not the situation that’s causing your stress. It’s your thoughts, and you can change that right here and now. You can choose to be peaceful right here and now. Peace is a choice, and it has nothing to do with what other people do or think”

Jerry Jampolsky

Attitudinal Healing is based on the belief that it is not people or experiences outside of ourselves that cause us to be upset. Rather, it is our thoughts, attitudes and judgments about them that cause us distress.. It is an approach and philosophy based on universal principals. It is neither religious nor dogmatic, and it does not conflict with any spiritual or religious orientation.

Attitudinal Healing is highly regarded by the academic and professional community worldwide as an effective therapeutic approach for individuals, groups and organisations. In 2005 , founder Dr. Gerald Jampolsky was awarded the prestigious American Medical Association’s “Excellence in Medicine – Pride in the Profession” Award for Attitudinal Healing’s groundbreaking contribution to the field of mental health.

The Western Australian Centre for Attitudinal Healing is one of 130 autonomous centres worldwide, including centres in Russia, India, Japan, New Zealand, England, the Netherlands, Ghana West Africa, Brazil, Mexico and the USA to name a few. Each centre determines the variety of support service they want to make available to meet the individual needs of the community. Centres all around the world work in specialist areas such as post war trauma, prisoner rehabilitation, and terminal illness support.

Attitudinal Healing gives people the tools needed to make healthy choices, navigate challenges and create positive change. We work toward a world where each person takes responsibility for what they think, say and do. The power is ours.

The principles of Attitudinal healing are offered as suggestions, not as rules. The principles introduce the dynamic of choice, and acknowledge our own inner wisdom.

12 principles
of Attitudinal Healing

1

The essence of our being is love

2

Health is inner peace, healing is letting go of fear

3

Giving and receiving are the same

4

We can let go of the past and of the future

5

Now is the only time there is and each instant is giving

6

We can learn to love ourselves and others by forgiving rather than judging

7

We can become love finders rather than fault-finders

8

We can choose and direct ourselves to be peaceful inside regardless of what is happening outside

9

We are students and teachers to each other

10

We can focus on the whole of life rather than the fragments

11

Since is love is eternal, death need not be viewed as fearful

12

We can always perceive others as either loving or fearful and giving a call of help for love
